Lasell Tips Saint Joseph's, 2-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Lasell University women's soccer team scored two goals in the final three minutes of the game to defeat Saint Joseph's (Maine), 2-1, in the last regular season game of the year at Brandeis University.

Lasell improves to 8-10 overall and 8-4 in conference. The Monks of Saint Joseph's drop to 13-3-2 overall and 9-2-1 in conference. In the first round of the GNAC Tournament on Saturday, #2 Saint Joseph's will host #7 University of Saint Joseph and #5 Lasell will play at #4 Suffolk.

The Lasers found themselves down 1-0 for most of the game after McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine) scored seven minutes into the second half. The Lasers would go on to dominate the visitors after the goal by outshooting the Monks 21-3 with 13 shots on goal.

With just over three minutes remaining in the game, junior Korynne Provenzano (Stratham, N.H.) headed home a goal off of a corner from junior Narissa Libby (Gorham, Maine) to tie the score 1-1.

The Lasers kept the pressure on the Monks, keeping the ball in the visitors defensive third. A handball by the Monks granted the home team a penalty kick with a little over one minute left in the half. Freshman Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) fired the ball into the back of the net to score the game-winning goal.
