Jenelle Harris was selected in January of 2013 as the Monks’ head coach after an extensive nationwide search and has continued the winning tradition established by the women's soccer program.

Overview:

In 10 seasons at the helm, Harris has guided the Monks to a 107-61-11 (.629) overall record with a 72-27-7 (.712) record versus conference opponents and led the Royal Blue to the program's first GNAC Championship in 2018. Following her first season (2013), Harris was selected as the GNAC Coach of the Year, becoming the first rookie head coach at Saint Joseph's to garner Coach of the Year honors since 1990. She also earned the 2016 and 2018 GNAC Coach of the Year accolades. 

Late in the 2021 season she surpassed former Head Coach Michael Bolanz '00 on the SJC women's soccer coaching victories list and early in the 2022 campaign she became the first skipper in team history to reach the career plateau of 100 wins.

MIC'D UP WITH COACH HARRIS:

In 2021, Coach Harris helped the Monks post a 12-8-0 overall record with an 11-3-0 mark in conference play en route to securing the #3 seed in the GNAC Tournament. St. Joe's blanked Elms College, 2-0, in a conference quarterfinal at the SJC Athletics Complex on September 30th but saw the season come to a close with a 2-0 setback at the hands of #2 Lasell University three days later.

After the season came to a close, senior goalkeeper Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) claimed First Team All-GNAC and GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year awards for the second-consecutive season while junior forward Madison Michaud (Presque Isle, Maine) and senior midfielder Kayley Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) also earned First Team All-GNAC honors. Senior defender Caitlin Callahan (Gorham, Maine) was listed on the Second Team while freshman forward Alicen Burnham (Monmouth, Maine), senior midfielder Eilidh Sidaway (Dedham, Maine), and senior defender Elizabeth Flynn (Kennebunk, Maine) earned Third Team awards.

Prior Seasons:

2019: The Monks posted a 14-4-3 overall record with a 9-2-1 mark in GNAC play to claim the #2 seed in the conference tournament for the second-consecutive season. The 2018 GNAC Champions advanced to the conference title bout after topping USJ in PK's in the quarterfinal and edging Emmanuel, 2-1, in semifinal action but their bid to repeat as GNAC champs was thwarted by top-seeded Johnson & Wales, who defeated the Monks by a 2-1 score in the title contest in Providence.

After the season ended, sophomore Adia Grogan (Kennebunk, Maine) was selected as the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year while senior midfielder Jade Jordan (Baldwin, Maine) and junior midfielder McKenzie Murphy (West Baldwin, Maine) earned First Team All-GNAC honors. Senior defender Peggy Balboni (Millis, Mass.) and sophomore forward Kayley Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) garnered Second Team All-Conference accolades.

In 2018, Coach Harris led the Royal Blue to a 16-4 overall record with a 10-2 mark in GNAC play en route to claiming the #2 seed in the GNAC Tournament. The Monks advanced to the title game with tourney wins over Simmons (2-1) and Johnson & Wales (4-2) and proceeded to earn the program’s first-ever GNAC Championship with a 1-0 upset victory at top-seeded Lasell College on Sunday, November 4th, 2018.

Making the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, the Monks faced #12 Swarthmore College in the opening round of the national tourney and fell to the Garnet on their home turf, 5-1, on November 10th.

Following the season, senior forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) earned GNAC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-GNAC, GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, United Soccer Coaches First Team All-New England, and NEWISA Third Team All-New England honors. She was also selected to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl and claimed Google Cloud Academic All-District, United Soccer Coaches First Team Academic All-Region, and United Soccer Coaches Third Team Scholar All-America accolades.

Harris was named as the 2018 GNAC Coach of the Year and six of her players – DaGraca, Jade Jordan, Skye Murray, Adia Grogan, Kenzie Murphy, and Colleen Sheehan – were recognized as All-Conference honorees.

2017: Harris led Saint Joseph's to a 13-6-1 overall and a 7-3-1 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2017. The Monks earned the #4 seed in the conference tournament and advanced to the semifinal round for the second-consecutive season with a 4-0 first-round triumph over #5 University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). The 2017 campaign came to a close with a setback at the hands of top-seeded Lasell College on October 31st.

Following the season, junior forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) and senior defender Emily DeLuca (Gorham, Maine) claimed First Team All-GNAC honors while senior midfielder Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) earned Second Team mention. DaGraca, who broke the Monks' career records for goals (50) and game-winning goals (13) during her junior season, and DeLuca garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and Comtois became the second player in program history to be chosen to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl Game.

2016: Coach Harris guided the 2016 side to a 10-7-3 overall record with a 6-2-3 mark in GNAC play en route to earning the #4 seed in the GNAC Tournament. In the first round, the Monks defeated #5 Simmons College, 3-1, to snap the program's six-game postseason losing streak (dating back to 2009), but fell to eventual conference champion Lasell College in the semifinals. Following the season, Harris was crowned as the GNAC Coach of the Year for the second time in four seasons while sophomore forward Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) was selected as the GNAC Offensive Player of the Year and collected First Team honors for the second-consecutive season. Juniors Sarah Comtois (Lowell, Mass.) and Emily DeLuca (Gorham, Maine) earned Second Team honors while senior Desiree Parent (Westborough, Mass.) and junior keeper Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) were listed on the Third Team. DaGraca, who enjoyed one of the finest offensive seasons in team history as a sophomore, also claimed Second Team NSCAA All-New England honors after scoring 21 goals with 45 points overall and five game-winners.

2015: The 2015 campaign saw the Monks go 9-10-0 overall with a 6-5-0 record in conference play under the watch of Coach Harris. Saint Joseph’s earned the #7 seed in the GNAC Tournament and faced #2 Johnson & Wales University in a quarterfinal match in Providence on October 31st. Trailing 2-0, St. Joe’s scored twice in a matter of two minutes to send the game into overtime, but the Wildcats managed to hold off the upstart Monks with a tally in the seventh minute of extra play. Following the season, two players claimed All-Conference honors, as freshman Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine) earned First Team acclaim and senior Whitney White (Salem, N.H.) was listed on the Third Team.

2014: In 2014, Saint Joseph's went 8-10-1 overall and 5-5-1 in GNAC play en route to earning the #7 seed in the conference tournament. The Monks' campaign came to a close with a 2-0 loss at the hands of #2 Emmanuel College in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal round on Sunday, November 2nd.

2013: Coach Harris led the Monks to one of the finest seasons in program history as a first-year clipboard carrier, as the SJC side went 15-3-1 overall and 9-2-0 in GNAC play under her guidance in 2013. The conference record was good for the #3 seed in the GNAC Tournament, allowing the Royal Blue to host a postseason contest for the first time since 2009. The season wins total and subsequent winning percentage both rank second in the history of the SJC women's soccer program.

Previously:

Harris, the side's assistant coach for six seasons (2007-12), helped lead the program to a 55-27-12 (.671) overall record, including a 41-13-10 (.759) mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. 

Coach Harris brings an impressive résumé of playing and coaching experience to the position. A four-year player at Centenary College - an NCAA DI program at the time - in Shreveport, Louisiana, she proceeded to coach at the high school level for six years and has coached premier soccer in Maine since 2007.

Harris holds the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National "A" Coaching License - the highest level one can attain - and has been employed by several prestigious youth coaching organizations, including Seacoast United, Soccer Maine ODP and Odyssey Sport '97.

Personal:

Originally from Texas, Harris graduated from Centenary with a BA in Psychology and an MS in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from the University of North Texas. She currently resides in Gray with her husband Josh and daughters Ainsley and Isa.
