Women Blow Past Husson, 148-99

BANGOR, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's swim team cruised past Husson University, 148-99, in the 2014-15 season opener on Saturday afternoon. The men also defeated the Eagles – by a 127-97 margin – to register the second sweep in program history.

The Monks recorded nine total victories on the afternoon, as junior Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) helped lead the way with first-place finishes in the 200-Free (2:14.68) and 100-Free (1:03.06) while junior Anne Fougere (Warner, N.H.) skated to easy wins in the 50-Breast (36.16), 100-Breast (1:19.95).

Sophomore Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) won the 100-Fly (1:16.76) and 100-IM (1:14.41) events while sophomore Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) won the 1000-Free (12:36.27) and 500-Free (6:09.48) races and posted a runner-up finish in the 100-Free (1:06.36).

Sophomore Danielle Charette (Westfield, Mass.) also fared well in the season-opener with second-place finishes in the 50-Back (33.32), 100-Back (1:12.49) and 500-Free (6:12.49) events.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday when the Monks host Elms College in the team's 2014-15 home-opener. The meet begins at 1:00 PM.
