SJC Swim Teams Collect National Academic Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swim teams have earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team honors, supported by Nike Swim, for the third time in the last four years.

In all, 109 NCAA DIII women's programs and 71 men's teams earned the 2014 Fall Team Scholar All American Award, which is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams posting a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Saint Joseph's is one of four Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's programs to claim the honor, with Simmons College, University of Saint Joseph and Elms College joining the Monks on the list. Elms, an associate member of the conference, is the only other GNAC institution to have both men's and women's teams earn Scholar All-America Team acclaim.

Saint Joseph's College finished the 2014-15 season in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship at University of Rhode Island in mid-February. The SJC men placed 10th while the women finished 15th overall in the regional championship meet.
