Simmons Tops Saint Joseph's, 218-38

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's swim team fell to reigning GNAC Champion Simmons College by a 218-38 margin at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Sunday afternoon.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • The quartet of Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine), Annie Fougere (Warner, N.H.), Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) and Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.) combined to place fourth in the 200-Medley Relay (2:21.25)
  • Junior Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) placed fourth in the 1000-Free (13:07.57) and fifth in the 50-Breast (42.12) and 500-Free (6:24.28) races
  • Senior Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) was third in the 500-Free (6:18.30) and fourth in the 200-Free (2:19.73) and 100-Free (1:05.99) events
  • Fougere finished third in the 200-Fly (36.71) and was fourth in the 50-Free (32.15) and 400-IM (5:43.98) events
  • Freshman Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) placed third in the 50-Fly (32.69) and fourth in the 200-Fly (2:56.52) and 200-Back (2:41.10) events
  • Krasco finished fourth in the 50-Back (38.68) and 50-Fly (36.87) and fifth in the 200-Free (2:30.97)
  • Prue finished fifth in the 200-Fly (2:57.90), 400-IM (5:50.51) and 100-Free (1:08.25)
  • Berube was fifth in the 50-Free (33.94) and sixth in the 200-Free (2:34.42) and 400-IM (6:09.64)
  • Junior Brittany Dalphonse (Coventry, R.I.) was sixth in the 50-Breast (44.26), 50-Fly (40.57) and 100-Free (1:18.03)
  • Rowlett, Dalphonse, Halvorsen, and Huberdeau raced together in the 200-Free Relay and finished fourth with a 2:14.25 performance

Saint Joseph's will host University of New England at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 18th. The Monks have plans to honor the program's five seniors: Fougere, Huberdeau, Krasco, Alex Gilvey (Windham, Maine) and Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.) with a brief ceremony prior to the start of the event.
