NEISDA Championship: Day One Recap

KINGSTON, R.I. – Saint Joseph's College finished the first complete day of the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Championships (NEISDA) at the University of Rhode Island on Friday evening. Through 20 events, the men are in seventh place with 96 points while the women are currently in 15th with 104 points.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) was 14th in the 200-Back finals with a 2:22.52 effort

  • Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine), Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine), Roy, and Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine) finished 12th in the 800-Free Relay with a 9:02.26 time on Thursday evening

  • Roy, Nostrom, Rowlett, and Coiley placed 12th in the 400-Medley Relay with a 4:43.92 performance

  • Nostrom, Roy, Coiley, and Jasmine Dort (Essex, Mass.) finished 16th in the 200-Free Relay with a 1:53.21 effort

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Caleb Levine (Portland, Maine/Waynflete) placed seventh in the 100-Fly finals with a 57.98 time

  • Junior captain Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) was 12th in the 50-Breast finals with a 31.01 performance

  • Freshman Joey Christian (Scarborough, Maine) finished 12th in the 200-IM finals with a 2:12.77 effort

  • Sophomore Austin Bear (Hanover, Maine) placed 15th in the 50-Breast finals with a 34.01 time

  • Christian, Levine, Zack Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine), and Bear posted a seventh-place finish in the 800-Free Relay (8:24.15) on Thursday evening

  • Gryskwicz, Christian, Levine, and Quinlan finished seventh in the 200-Free Relay with a 1:38.35 performance

  • Christian, Quinlan, Levine, and Gryskwicz raced to a seventh-place finish with a 4:01.68 time in the 400-Medley Relay
