NEISDA Championship: Day Two Recap

KINGSTON, R.I. – Saint Joseph's College capped the second complete day of the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Championships (NEISDA) at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday night. Through 34 events, the men are in seventh place with 136 points and the women are 16th with 139 points.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) highlighted day two for the women, as the second-year standout broke her own team 100-Back record by one one-hundredths of a second with a 1:06.56 time in the preliminary round

  • Sophomore Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine) placed 16th in the 200-Free finals with a 2:08.20 effort

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Joey Christian (Scarborough, Maine) shattered the Monks' 400-IM record - previously held by Alex Gilvey '16 with a 4:47.25 time during the 2014 season - with a 4:37.20 performance, which was good for ninth place in the finals

  • Junior Zack Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine) finished 10th in the 200-Free finals (1:53.28)

  • Junior captain Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) was 11th in the 100-Breast finals (1:06.45)

  • Christian, Quinlan, Caleb Levine (Portland, Maine/Waynflete), and Gryskwicz placed ninth in the 200-Medley Relay with a 1:47.51 effort

NEXT!

The final day of the NEISDA Championship begins Sunday with the preliminary races at 10:00 AM while the day's finals start at 5:30 PM.
