STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Jared Felker is pleased to announce the women's swimming Class of 2023.
Coach Felker's third recruiting class features five swimmers – two men and three women – and helps fill the roles vacated by the team's two departed seniors: Stephen Quinlan and Julia Rowlett.
The SJC women return nine swimmers this year after placing seventh in the GNAC Championship and 19th in the NEISDA Championship last winter. On the men's side, three individuals return from a team that placed fifth in the GNAC Championship and 12th in the NEISDA's during the 2018-19 campaign.
"I am really excited to welcome our Class of 2023," adds Felker. "On the men's side, Joseph Spurling sat out his last high school season due to injury but is now healthy and we have very high hopes for him as a college swimmer. He adds depth and speed in our backstroke, IM, and middle distance freestyle. Evan Whaley is coming off an impressive senior year. His high school times already put him at the top of the GNAC in distance free and butterfly. Though our roster is on the small side, the nucleus of our team has never been stronger!"
"On the women side, Delany Young has great middle distance speed and will add to a strong backstroke group. She is versatile and will also help deepen out middle distance and distance freestylers. Both Madison Mills and Haley McCullough come in with great sprint speed. They will not only bring speed but depth to one of the strongest sprint groups we have had in school history."

Madison Mills Why Saint Joseph's? The community based feel of the campus and the connections between the professors and students, the small classroom settings means that the professor will know my name, not just a number. Also, the academic opportunities that school has for students like tutoring, academic help center, and the office hours of the professors when help is needed. Lastly, the coaching staff for swimming and the small and family feel of the team, which was a big factor in deciding which college I was going to. High School: Four-year varsity swimmer at Timberlane Regional High School…Swam legs for several school record relay teams…Earned High Honors, listed on the Honor Roll, and a member of the Business Honor Society and Student Council.
