Monks Fare Well at Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's indoor track & field team placed eighth with 33 points in the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men finished fifth with 49 points in the event. 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) won the 3000-Meter (10:57.79) and placed as the runner-up in the 1-Mile (5:21.92) while topping her own team records in both events
  • Senior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) finished second in the 5000-Meter (19:42.69) and was third in the 3000-Meter (11:14.09)
  • Sophomores Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.), Kristina Schelling (Pelham, N.H.), Jill Keimach (Scarborough, Maine) and Gabby Lodge (Westbrook, Maine) became the first Saint Joseph's quartet to compete in the 4x400 Meter relay and finished ninth with a 4:59.83 performance
  • Lundy posted an eight-place finish in the 600-Meter (1:57.41)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) won the 400-Meter with a 51.75 time and finished seventh in the 200-Meter (24.02)
  • Sophomore Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) broke his own team record and placed third in the 3000-Meter (9:21.89)
  • Junior Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) shattered the Monks' weight throw (11.69m) record and placed fourth overall. He also finished 10th in the shot put (9.44m)
  • Freshman Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) set a new team mark and placed fifth in the triple jump (12.17m) and also finished fifth in the high jump (1.63m) and was sixth in the shot put (10.88m) and 55-Meter hurdles (9.39) race
  • Sophomore Calvin Field (Windham, Maine) tied his team record with a 1.83m effort in the high jump and finished in a tie for second in the event. He also placed 10th in the 55-Meter (6.93) competition
  • Freshman Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) was fifth in the 3000-Meter (9:28.07)
  • Senior Robert Travers (Lebanon, Maine) was 10th in the weight throw (5.31m)

 

NEXT: The Monks compete in the State of Maine Championships at Bates College, an event that begins at 6:00 PM this Friday.
