Four Team Records Broken in Maine State Championship

GORHAM, Maine – Saint Joseph's College participated in the Maine State Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the University of Southern Maine on Friday evening. The Monks finished sixth with nine team points in the annual event. Four SJC team records fell - 55-Meter Dash, 55-Meter Hurdles, Shot Put, and 400-Meter Dash - in the State Championship.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Freshman Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine) placed eighth in the 55-Meter Hurdles (9.10) after posting a program-record 8.97 time in the trials and was also 13th in the 200-Meter Dash (28.35)
  • Sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) finished ninth in the 1-Mile Run (5:35.44)
  • Sophomore Meghan Burke (Falmouth, Mass.) finished ninth in the Shot Put (9.60m – program record)
  • Senior Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) placed 11th in the 800-Meter Run (2:38.92)
  • Freshman Breeann Sautter (Lisbon, Maine) was 13th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:06.69 – program record)
  • Junior Kyrie Harnden (Wilton, Maine) finished 14th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:12.42)
  • Freshman Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) finished 14th in the 800-Meter Run (2:43.49)
  • Sophomore Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) was 15th in the High Jump (1.37m), 16th in the 800-Meter Run (2:49.95) and Shot Put (7.00m), 18th in the Long Jump (4.00m), and posted a 9.88 time in the 55-Meter Hurdles prelim
  • Sophomore Rebecca Pond (Westwood, Mass.) was 15th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:13.30)
  • Freshman Laurel Grigalunas-Mahon (Hingham, Mass.) placed 18th in the 800-Meter Run (2:58.28)
  • Freshman Amanda Tavoletti (Reading, Mass.) raced to a 14th-place finish in the 1000-Meter Run (3:45.93)
  • Sophomore Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) placed 18th in the 200-Meter Dash (28.74) and posted a 7.85 time (program record) in the 55-Meter Dash trials
  • Harnden, Burke, Pond, and Sautter finished fifth in the 4x200 Meter Relay (2:01.90)
  • Harnden, Pond, Bisset, and Smith placed fifth in the 4x400 Meter Relay (4:47.38)
  • Lundy, Sautter, Quirion, and Curtin finished fourth in the 4x800 Meter Relay (10:51.82)

The Monks are back in action next Friday and Saturday when the team competes in the Boston University Invitational.
