Track & Field Teams Compete in BU David Hemery Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College indoor track & field teams competed in the David Hemery Invitational at Boston University on Friday and Saturday. The event, the Monks' largest of the indoor season thus far, features teams from all three NCAA divisions.

On the women's side, three team records fell as sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) set a new SJC mark with a 2:29.77 effort in the 800-Meter Run, freshman Breeann Sautter (Lisbon, Maine) topped the former 400-Meter Dash record with a 1:13.94 performance, and both runners – along with Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) and Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) – swam legs in the 4x400 Meter Relay, which boasted a new top time of 4:35.60.

On the men's side, freshman Keenan Welzel (Brunswick, Maine) broke a pair of team records, with a 50.45 time in the 400-Meter Dash and a 1:57.68 mark in the 800-Meter Run.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) was 80th in the 60-Meter Dash (8.61) and 182nd in the 200-Meter Dash (28.41)
  • Freshman Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine) finished 67th in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.97) and 164th in the 200-Meter Dash (27.87)
  • Barrett placed 155th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:09.63) and 203rd in the 200-Meter Dash (29.53)
  • Sophomore Meghan Burke (Falmouth, Mass.) was 209th in the 200-Meter Dash (30.41)
  • Sophomore Rebecca Pond (Westwood, Mass.) placed 158th in the 400-Meter Dash (1:13.94) and 211th in the 200-Meter Dash (32.02)
  • Sautter was 153rd in the 400-Meter Dash with the team-record 1:06.31 effort
  • Curtin was first in her heat in the 800-Meter Run with the team-record 2:29.77 time
  • Quirion finished 135th in the 800-Meter Run (2:36.27)
  • Freshman Laurel Grigalunas-Mahon (Hingham, Mass.) was 143rd in the 800-Meter Run (2:58.30)
  • Freshman Amanda Tavoletti (Reading, Mass.) placed 227th in the 1-Mile Run (6:24.66)
  • Barrett, Quirion, Sautter, Curtin set a new team mark in the 4x400 Meter Relay (4:35.60) and finished 49th in the event

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Andrew D'Ovidio (Walpole, Mass.) was 200th overall – and first in his heat – with a 24.02 time in the 200-Meter Dash and also placed 179th in the 400-Meter Dash (53.78)
  • Freshman Zachary Ham (Saco, Maine) was 192nd in the 400-Meter Dash (54.77) and 211th in the 200-Meter Dash (24.20)
  • Sophomore Joshua Hunter (Lawrence, Mass.) placed 224th in the 200-Meter Dash (27.74)
  • Welzel set team records in the 400-Meter Dash (50.45, 82nd) and 800-Meter Run (1:57.68, 119th) events and finished first in his heat in the latter
  • Freshman Connor White (Bayport, N.Y.) was 202nd in the 400-Meter Dash (1:01.53)
  • Junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed first in his heat – and 281st overall – with a 4:47.11 time in the 1-Mile Run
  • Freshman Kevin McWilliams (New Milford, Conn.) was 297th in the 1-Mile Run (5:00.96)
  • Freshman Jacob Boissonnault (Biddeford, Maine) placed 299th in the 1-Mile Run (5:04.33)
  • Freshman Ben Plante (Biddeford, Maine) finished 300th in the 1-Mile Run (5:07.89)
  • Boissonnault, D'Ovidio, McWilliams, Fisher raced to a 14th-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay (11:40.30)

NEXT!

Select members from both teams will compete in the NCAA DIII Regional Championship next weekend at Tufts University.
