Monks Soar Past Eagles, 3-0

BANGOR, ME – Saint Joseph's (13-6, 4-4 GNAC) swept Husson University (14-7, 2-2 NAC) in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-17) in a non-conference volleyball match on Tuesday evening. Erica Russi '14 (Debary, Fla.) tallied a match-high 19 digs in the victory.

Sarah Hawkes '13 (Pownal, Maine), Holly Bannister '14 (Cumberland, Maine) and Brooke Dyer '14 (Lebanon, Maine) all registered nine kills for the Monks and Emilee Penman '15 (Uncasville, Conn.) posted five kills on the evening. 

Bannister notched an outstanding .600 hitting percentage with no errors in 15 attacks for Saint Joseph's. 

Hannah Olstad led the Eagles with seven kills while Rachel Voicechovski tallied a team-high nine digs in a losing effort. 

After dropping nine straight to Husson over a period of five seasons, the Monks have now defeated the Eagles in three consecutive meetings.

St. Joe's will host Maine Maritime Academy in a non-conference match on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM.
