Wachowiak Picked as GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been chosen as the GNAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this fall and third time in her career.

Over five matches last week, Wachowiak had 24 total blocks - 18 solo - along with a .242 attack percentage. She averaged 1.26 blocks and 3.21 kills per set on the week. She had 22 kills and 11 block solos in a tri-match with Maine- Presque Isle and Maine-Fort Kent on Monday and added a career-high 20 kills and six total blocks in a five-set loss to Simmons on Saturday.

Through 26 matches this fall, Wachowiak leads the Monks in kills (241), kills per set (2.50), total attacks (730), block solos (84), block assists (33) and total blocks (117). She currently leads the GNAC in points (375), block solos, total blocks and blocks per set.

The three-year starter has broken the Monks' single-season records for every block category this fall and has already surpassed the program's career records with 195 solos, 121 assists and 316 total blocks through 87 matches and 304 sets overall.

Saint Joseph's will host Husson University in a non-conference match-up starting at 7:00 PM in the Harold Alfond Center.
