Mules Slip Past Monks, 3-1

STANDISH, Maine – Colby College (3-5, 0-2 NESCAC) topped Saint Joseph's College (2-7, 1-0 GNAC), 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16) in a non-conference women's volleyball match at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday night.

For Saint Joseph's, junior Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) tallied 12 kills, freshman Sarah Quinn (Dover, N.H.) added seven kills, senior Jennelle Thompson (Rochester, N.H.) posted 17 digs, and senior Sarah Dyer (Seabrook, N.H.) contributed 15 assists.

For Colby, senior Paige Hanssen (Earlysville, Va.) and sophomore Elizabeth Middlebrook (Ridgefield, Conn.) notched 15 kills apiece, senior Molly Manuel (Andover, Mass.) dealt 34 assists with seven digs, and freshman Julia Hutchings (Scarsdale, N.Y.) posted seven kills, five aces, and four digs.

The Mules held a 50-39 advantage in kills with a 15-6 lead in service aces on the evening.

The Monks return to action Saturday when they host conference rivals Simmons University (12:00 PM) and Regis College (3:00 PM).
