Monks Split GNAC Tri-Match on Senior Day

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (8-19, 5-5 GNAC) defeated Lasell University (8-20, 5-7 GNAC), 3-0, and fell to #21 Johnson & Wales University (20-4, 9-0 GNAC), 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) volleyball tri-match at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon.

In the middle match, Johnson & Wales blanked Lasell, 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-20).

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Junior Erin Olson (Stoughton, Mass.) registered six kills and nine total blocks, including five block solos
  • Sophomore Olivia Kent (Ellington, Conn.) belted eight kills in 24 attempts
  • Sophomore Sarah Quinn (Dover, N.H.) tallied seven kills, eight digs, and four total blocks
  • Freshman Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) added four kills, 19 assists, and 11 digs
  • Junior Madison Provencher (Rochester, N.H.) contributed with 17 digs
  • Senior Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) chipped in with three kills, three aces, and eight digs

LEADERS – LASELL:

  • Kiana Perez Diaz paced the Lasers with 12 kills, three aces, and 16 digs
  • Jess Langan recorded 26 assists and six digs

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the match versus Lasell the Monks held a brief ceremony to honor the Monks' two seniors: Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) and Bailey Gryskwicz (Standish, Maine). These two seniors are both four-year members of the program and have helped lead the Royal Blue to GNAC Tournament appearances in each of the last three seasons.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Quinn posted seven kills and six digs
  • Bickford added four kills and three digs
  • Provencher notched 18 digs
  • Holden tallied 12 assists and seven digs

LEADERS – JOHNSON & WALES:

  • Kate Walker registered 12 kills with no errors on 17 attempts for a stellar .706 attack percentage and added four block solos
  • Maria Coniglio tallied 12 kills and 21 digs
  • Mikayla Arimura delivered four kills, 36 assists, and 11 digs

Saint Joseph's will play Simmons University and Suffolk University at the Rams' home gym on Saturday at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, respectively.
