Women Cap Season in NCAA Regional Race

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The St. Joe's Women's Cross Country team finished 38th with 1113 points in the 2010 NCAA New England Regional 6K on Saturday. Danielle Cusack '13 (Portland, ME/Deering) paced the Monks with a 25:36 effort and placed 133rd out of 336 runners.

Williams College sophomore Jennifer Gossels captured top individual accolades with a 21:42 performance, topping runner-up Paige Mills, a junior from Keene State, by nine seconds. Amherst sophomore Ali Simeone was third (22:16), Wellesley second-year Randelle Boots placed fourth (22:23) and Middlebury first-year Collete Whitney rounded out the top five with a 22:29 effort.

Middlebury College, with all five scoring runners finishing in the top 20, notched top-team honors with 58 points – well ahead of runner-up Williams (91). Amherst was third with 103 points, while MIT (105) and Colby (157) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

For St. Joe's, Katie Murphy '11 (Baileyville, ME) toured the course in 26:20 to finish 175th, Ashley Condon placed 243rd (27:44), and Laura Mills '13 (Mattapoisett, MA) notched a 29:06 time to place 279th. Christina Meehan '11 (Nashua, NH) (283rd, 29:14), Allison Pearsall '12 (West Newbury, MA) (285th, 29:18) and Lauren Tidd '13 (Walpole, MA) (323rd, 34:15) also participated in the regional meet.
