Women Place Fourth in KSC Invitational

KEENE, NH – The SJC women's cross country team placed fourth with 86 team points in the 2012 Keene State College Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) paced the Monks with a 19:11 time and finished as the event's runner-up.

Dostie's time was just 10 seconds off the pace of Keene State senior Maggie Fittier (Branford, Conn.), who won the event with a 19:01 effort, and ranks as the third-fastest 5K time ever posted by a Saint Joseph's female runner.

The host-Owls placed seven of the top 10 individual runners and cruised to a team championship with 24 points. Mount Holyoke finished in a distant second with 67 points and Springfield placed third with 71 points. Fitchburg State (145 pts.) and New England College (173 pts.) also competed in the race, posting fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively.

Three Monks placed in the top-20, as freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) finished 14th with a 20:24 effort and first-year Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) toured the 5K course in 20:38 to place 20th out of 85 participants.

Senior Ashley Condon (Sumner, Maine) earned a 35th-place finish with a 21:31 time while freshman Riley Jones (Winslow, Maine) placed 61st with a 23:24 performance. Laura Mills (Mattapoisett, Mass.) (24:48, 72), Melissa Deplanche (Dover, N.H.) (25:56, 74), Cally Hughes (Waterville, Vt.) (27:28, 80) and Sarah Bakun (Clinton, Mass.) also competed for Saint Joseph's.

St. Joe's will host the 2012 Runnin' Monks Invitational on Saturday, October 6th. The women's 5K race begins at 11:00 AM.
