BANGOR, Maine - The Saint Joseph's College women's cross country team placed three individuals in the top seven overall to win the Husson University Invitational Championship at Saxl Park on Saturday.
THE LEAD
Sophomores Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) and Lauren Lecompte (Lewiston, Maine) paced the Monks, finishing second (19:47) and third (21:07), respectively, while senior Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) placed seventh with a 21:40 effort in the 4.67K (2.9 mile) race. All three runners garnered All-Invitational Team honors after placing in the top 10 indvidually.
For the Monks, the team victory is the program's first since October 6th, 2012 when Saint Joseph's claimed the Runnin' Monks Invitational with 62 points. St. Joe's has won 10 events since the start of the 2003 campaign and Saturday's win is the Monks' first without placing the top finisher since October 7th, 2006 when SJC claimed the Runnin' Monks title and Lyndsay Calkins of Lyndon State was the top individual.
THE RUNDOWN
- Freshman Amanda Tavoletti (Reading, Mass.) finished 11th with a 21:57 time
- Sophomore Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) placed 14th with a 22:28 performance
- Freshman Analyse Harris (Windham, Maine) was 17th with a 23:36 effort
- First-year Mackenzie Beaudon (Fayette, Maine) finished18th (23:37)
- Rookie Sydney Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) was 19th (23:50)
- Freshman Mckenzie Pepin (Windham, Maine) placed 22nd (24:20)
- Senior Kristina Schelling (Pelham, N.H.) finished 24th (25:03)
- Sophomore Emily Tourangeau raced to a 37th-place (28:32) finish
- Senior Meghan Fullarton (Windham, Maine) was 38th with a 28:33 time

Saint Joseph's is off until Saturday, September 24th when the Monks participate in the Cod Fish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Boston.
