Saint Joseph's Finishes Third in Runnin' Monks Invitational

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) claimed her first collegiate victory with a 21:16 effort in the 2016 Runnin' Monks Invitational on the campus course on Saturday morning.

Curtin was over 21 seconds faster than runner-up Jeannette Mooney of Emerson College and helped lead the Monks to a third-place finish with 77 points in the team's annually-hosted event. With three individuals in the top six – and all five scorers in the top 12 overall – Emerson easily won the event with 33 points, well ahead of runner-up Maine-Farmington, which registered 50 points.

Johnson State (105 points), Mount Ida (153), Wheelock (162), and Maine-Presque Isle (172) also competed in the 5K race.

Next Saturday, Saint Joseph's will compete in the Maine State Championship at the Pineland Center in Gray. The women's race begins at 11:00 AM.
