Please share some of your favorite SJC memories - on and off the field:
Pre-games pep talks and locker room dance sessions. Team dinners and long bus rides. We won’t forget Coach Bolanz always making us stop at Kelly's Roast beef for every dinner in Boston. The 2008 GNAC championship game that went into penalty kicks. We lost, but it was one of the best games I've ever played in partly because of the huge SJC crowd. In soccer we had a system where you had a "big sister" on the team, every year I looked forward to having a “sister” that I would get to know and motivate. Because lacrosse started as a club team, we just needed girls who wanted to play. It didn't matter if they had ever picked up a stick before. It was fun to teach the new girls and seeing how they progressed from not knowing how to cradle to scoring goals! Events at the Chalet and meeting lifelong best friends!
Notable performances as an SJC athlete (records, championships, individual accolades):
The biggest honor I received was being selected as the SJC Female Athlete of the year my senior year. In soccer I played defense for four years and was one of the captains my senior year. Therefore, I didn't score many goals, but I do hold the record for the most games started, and second in line for most games ever played. I was selected Second Team All-Conference my junior year. My freshmen year was the first year SJC had a lacrosse team and we were a club team, and the next year was the first year as a varsity team. Every year we improved and by my senior year we had a winning record (thanks Coach Lewis!). I was selected to the All-Tournament team in 2008 and 2010 and named First Team All-Conference in 2009 in 2010. In 2010 I led the team in points, assists and draw controls, and was the first player in program history to reach 200 points.
Where are you employed? Please tell us your job title, duties, how long you've been there, etc.:
I work at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. I am a RN in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and have been there for the past six years. As you can imagine, this can be a challenging but rewarding place to work. I feel blessed to care for babies and their families during their first few days of life. And even though MGH is such a large hospital, I see a lot of familiar SJC faces in the halls!
Tell us about your family:
My husband Dylan and I met in Boston through a mutual friend (Ryan Carrier, a former Monks baseball player). We got married in Maine three years ago and we now have a 10-month-old daughter Avery. Both my parents were Monks, Reis and Catherine Hagerman. My late brother was married to Molly Findlay, another former Monk!
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy exercise classes and walking around the city shopping and trying new restaurants. We love going to Maine and we spend most of the summer on Sebago Lake.
