Saint Joseph's Set to Host 2018 MPA Baseball & Softball Tournaments

STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College will serve as a host site for the Maine Principals' Association (MPA) baseball and softball regional and state championship games this week.

The MPA Maine South Region Baseball Championships will be played at Larry Mahaney Diamond, starting with a pair of contests on Tuesday, the Class "C" Championship at 3:00 PM and the Class "A" Championship at 6:30 PM. The Class "D" title will be decided on Wednesday at 3:00 PM, followed by the Class "B" Championship at 6:30 PM.

The MPA Maine South Region Softball Championships follow a similar format, as play begins with the Class "A" Championship at 3:30 PM on Tuesday and continues with the Class "C" title game, which begins at 7:00 PM that day. The Class "B" champion will be crowned in a 3:30 PM contest on Wednesday and the Class "D" Championship game is slated to start at 7:00 PM that evening. All Maine South Region Tournament softball games will be played at Richard W. Bailey Field on the campus of Saint Joseph's College.

The State Championship baseball and softball games for Class "A" and Class "C" will be played on Saturday, June 16th. Mahaney Diamond will house the Class "A" Championship at 1:00 PM and the Class "C" title contest at 4:30 PM that day.

Bailey Field will serve as the host site for the Class "C" Championship, which begins at 12:30 PM, and the Class "A" Championship, slated to start at 4:00 PM, on Saturday.

Ticket prices (set by the MPA): $8 for adults - $5 for students and senior citizens (65 and older).

Seating Capacity:

Larry Mahaney Diamond – 1,000 bleacher seating with ample space for lawn chairs on the hill down the right field line

Richard W. Bailey Field – 300 bleacher seating with room for lawn chairs on the hill down the left field line

Concessions: A large concession stand, operated by the Campus Food Service – Pearson's Café - is located in the baseball parking lot and features a wide variety of reasonably-priced items
