STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (17-2, 4-0 GNAC) featured 12 hitters with at least one hit in a 16-2 rout of Husson University (11-10, 5-2 NAC) in non-conference baseball action on a gorgeous Monday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Diamond. The Monks have now won 11 consecutive games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a scoreless first frame, the Monks' offense exploded for 10 runs over their next two turns with six runs off four hits and two Husson errors in the second and four runs off three hits in the third. The SJC pitching staff held up its end of the bargain as well, as five different pitchers combined to allow one earned run off five hits with 10 strikeouts on the afternoon.

ON THE MOUND – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• Freshman starter Roderick Maynard (Baldwin, Maine) tossed three no-hit innings with four walks and six strikeouts
• Freshman Luke Klenda (Yarmouth, Maine) earned his first collegiate victory after allowing an unearned run off two hits with three K's in three frames
• Making his NCAA debut, freshman Jonathon Rolfe (Plainville, Mass.) worked a perfect inning in relief
• Freshman Troy Bogdahn (Hollis, Maine) yielded a run off three hits in one relief inning
• Senior Cejay Suarez (Abington, Mass.) walked two and fanned one in the ninth inning

ON THE MOUND – HUSSON:

• Sophomore starter Connor Maguire (Ellsworth, Maine) took the loss and falls to 0-2 on the season after surrendering eight runs (five earned) off six hits with one strikeout in 2.2 innings
• Freshman lefty Blake Slicer (Waterford, Maine) gave up two runs off two hits with a K in 1.1 innings of relief
• Sophomore AJ Purcell (Tiverton, R.I.) yielded three runs off five hits in one inning of work
• Nick Guerrette (Hermon, Maine), Steven Hanscom (Bar Harbor, Maine), Austin Smith (Lincoln, Maine), and Matt Smith (Norway, Maine) combined to give up three runs off seven hits and a walk with four K's in three innings of relief

OFF THE BAT – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• Sophomore second baseman Jonathan Panaro (Atkinson, N.H.) was 2-5 with two runs and blasted his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot in the third inning
• Senior shortstop Nick Petchell (Milton, Mass.) went 2-4 with two runs, a stolen base, and a pair of RBI
• Sophomore center fielder Jared Gagne (Dover, N.H.) was 2-4 with two runs, a double, and three RBI
• Sophomore third baseman Noah McDaniel (Eliot, Maine) added two hits with a double and two RBI in three at-bats
• Freshman outfielder Dawson Renaud (East Waterboro, Maine) picked up his first collegiate hits and was 2-2 with a run scored
• Freshman first baseman Simon Gonzalez (Peabody, Mass.) was 2-3 with a run, a double, and an RBI
• Freshman designated hitter Ben Gravel (Rochester, N.H.) went 2-4 with two runs and a stolen base
• Sophomore catcher Greg Emanuelson (Hudson, N.H.) was 2-6 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI
• Sophomore Timothy Verrill (Dover, N.H.) notched his first collegiate hit with a two-run double in the seventh

OFF THE BAT – HUSSON:

• Sophomore first baseman Sam Huston (Bangor, Maine) went 2-5 with a run scored
• Sophomore left fielder Luke Covey (Milton, Vt.) was 1-1 with an RBI single

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 65-36 versus Husson University (since 1983) and has now defeated the Eagles in four-consecutive meetings.

Saint Joseph's travels to Endicott College tomorrow for a non-conference game starting at 4:00 PM. Husson is back in action Wednesday with a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contests at Thomas College (2:00 PM).
