Monks Ranked 19th & 24th Nationally, Fourth in New England

STANDISH, Maine – The most recent NCAA DIII Baseball national and regional polls have been announced and Saint Joseph's College (22-4, 6-0 GNAC) is ranked 19th in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll, 24th in the D3Baseball.com/NCBWA poll, and fourth in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) regional poll.

Ranked 21st in last week's D3Baseball.com/NCBWA poll, the Monks dropped three spots after going 4-2 last week. Saint Joseph's moved up one slot in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball rankings and fell from third to fourth in the NEIBA poll.

Last week, the Monks suffered consecutive losses for the first time this season with setbacks at the hands of University of Southern Maine and Nichols College. The Royal Blue opened the week with wins over Husson University and Endicott College and closed out with a convincing sweep over GNAC rival Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

With four first-place votes, Tufts University (18-3-1) remains in the top spot in the NEIBA Poll with 46 points while Salve Regina received two first-place votes and sits in second with 43 points. Southern Maine (17-7) moves up to third with 36 points, Saint Joseph's is fourth with 28, and Westfield State (19-4) rounds out the top five with 19 points.

UMass.-Boston (19-4, 28 points), Mitchell College (18-9, 9), and WPI (20-8, 8) close out the top eight while Wheaton, Castleton, Wesleyan, and Nichols also received votes in the fourth NEIBA Poll of the season.

In the eighth D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 rankings, Tufts is in eighth with 417 points and Salve Regina is listed 21st with 119 points. The Monks received 78 points.

In this week's ABCA/Collegiate Baseball poll, Tufts sits in ninth with 340 points, Salve Regina moves up to 17th with 216 points, Saint Joseph's received 175 points, and Southern Maine enters the poll in 29th with 68 points.

Saint Joseph's hosts Bates College this afternoon (4:00 PM), UMass.-Boston tomorrow afternoon (4:00 PM), and Suffolk University in a pivotal conference doubleheader Saturday (12:00 PM).
