Baseball Ranked 20th & 22nd Nationally, Fourth in New England

STANDISH, Maine – The ABCA/Collegiate Baseball, D3Baseball.com/NCBWA, and New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) rankings have been released and Saint Joseph's College is, for the third-consecutive week, listed on all three polls.

The Monks, 26-6 overall and 9-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play so far this spring, is ranked 20th in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball NCAA DIII Baseball Poll, 22nd in the ninth D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll, and fourth in the NEIBA Regional Poll.

After posting a 6-2 record last week, St. Joe's falls two spots in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, moves up two spots in the D3Baseball.com/NCBWA Poll, and remains fourth in the NEIBA Poll for the second-consecutive week.

Last week, the Monks defeated Plymouth State University (6-5), Bates College (4-1), and Suffolk University (4-2) and swept Rivier University (16-9, 18-0) and suffered losses at the hands of UMass.-Boston (14-1) and Suffolk (2-1).

In the NEIBA rankings, Salve Regina University (29-7) moves up to the top spot for the first time this spring after receiving three first-place votes and 45 points overall. Ranked as the top New England team in all four of the previous polls, Tufts University (21-5-1) falls to the #2 slot with three first-place votes and 42 points and Southern Maine remains third after earning a first-place vote and 40 points overall. The Monks (24 points), UMass.-Boston (22), Wheaton (18), Westfield State (14), Castleton (4), and Mitchell (4) round out the fifth regional ranking of the 2017 campaign.

Clark, WPI, and Western New England also received votes in this week's NEIBA rankings.

In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball national poll, Tufts remains as the top New England program and is ranked 11th with 296 points. Salve Regina moves up to 13th with 294 points, the Monks are 20th (161), and Southern Maine is 21st (156).

In 10th with 364 points, Tufts is also the top team in the latest D3Baseball/com NCBWA poll while Salve Regina moves up three slots to 18th (196) and Saint Joseph's climbs to 22nd (93). Southern Maine enters the poll at 25th with 52 points.

Saint Joseph's will host Nichols College at 4:00 PM Thursday and Norwich University in a GNAC doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM Friday.
