GNAC Baseball Tournament Bracket Announced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

#1 Suffolk, #2 SJC hosting one game Thursday,
Rams will host this weekend in Lynn, Mass.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Suffolk University, which clinched the Great Northeast Athletic Conference regular-season title and top playoff seed this past weekend, is next up in the host rotation for the GNAC Baseball Tournament, as the Rams get set to host the final two days on Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5, at historic Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.

The 2019 GNAC Tournament gets underway on Tuesday afternoon with single-elimination contests, as third-seeded Johnson & Wales University hosts sixth-seeded Anna Maria College (3:30 PM) and fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus College travels to fourth-seeded Lasell College (7:00 PM) in a game that will be played at Brandeis' Stein Diamond.

The Albertus/Lasell winner will play at top-seeded Suffolk in East Boston on Thursday, May 2, to begin the double-elimination portion of the tournament, while second-seeded Saint Joseph's College of Maine will host the Anna Maria/JWU winner on Thursday before tournament play shifts to Fraser in Lynn.

JWU had an opportunity to secure the first-round bye and No. 2 seed with two victories at Colby-Sawyer College on Monday afternoon, however the Wildcats and Chargers split their regular-season finale in New London, N.H.

Saint Joe's had the opportunity to nail down the top seed with a pair of wins against Suffolk this past Sunday, but the Monks and Mutts split.

The two powerhouse programs squared off once again in last year's GNAC Championship up in Standish, with Suffolk and head coach Anthony Del Prete capturing their fourth conference crown in as many years. The league champion will receive the GNAC's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
