Saint Joseph's Falls to Rose-Hulman, 3-1

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (2-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (1-5), 3-1, in RussMatt Central Florida Invitational baseball action on Tuesday morning.

SJC sophomore Devan Harrison (Bourne, Mass.) pitched very well in what was his first collegiate start and allowed two runs (one earned) off six hits and three walks with four K's over five innings. Senior Jonathan Rolfe (Plainville, Mass.) allowed a run off a hit and a free pass with one strikeout in one inning of relief and junior Jonathan Marchia (Chicopee, Mass.) struck out three in three innings of work.

RHIT starter Matthew Rouse threw 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just five hits and one walk with five strikeouts to pick up the win.  Clayton Mayfield, Brett Tuttle and Adam Taylor recorded the final seven outs to secure the win, with Taylor earning the save by tossing 1.1 shutout innings.

Senior second baseman Drew Healey (Rochester, N.H.) was 2-4 with a double and junior center fielder Hunter Richardson (Monmouth, Maine) went 1-3 with a run and a stolen base.

For RHIT, centerfielder Shaine Mitchell went 3-4 with two runs and a stolen base and catcher Shane Garner was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.

OF NOTE: RHIT Head Coach Jeff Jenkins became the 9th active and 22nd all-time baseball coach to win 800 games at the NCAA Division III level with the victory over the Monks.
