Kean Blanks Saint Joseph's, 4-0

Union, N.J. – Kean University (13-4) toppled Saint Joseph's College (11-4), 4-0, in a non-conference field hockey match on Saturday evening.

The Cougars were off to a great start as Marissa Robinson and Krista LaMaina came together for the first goal of the evening. Off LaMaina's corner, Robinson redirected the ball from the left side of the cage and passed it back to LaMaina for the score.

Jordan Colna scored the second goal of the night for Kean. The ball came to her stick from a deflection in front initially shot by Katie-Lynne Lussier, and Colna buried it in the top netting.

Kean (13-4) ended the first half leading in corners 7-2 and shots 8-1.

LaMaina and Robinson were at it again during the second half. Robinson scored twice for the Cougars in the 63rd and 68th minute off corners from LaMaina. Robinson fired both carbon-copy shots from the top of the circle to score five minutes apart.

St. Joe's was unable to get on the scoreboard for the night and left the Cougars four goals unanswered. Katie DiCarlo earned the shutout for Kean with one save. Colna also had a defensive save to cement the Cougar shutout.

The final shot count was 17-3 and Kean held a13-5 advantage for corners.

Saint Joseph's will play Dickinson College in Union tomorrow at 2:00 PM. The Cougars will play their final two games of the regular season on the road, starting with a non-conference matchup with SUNY New Paltz at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
