Kean Blows Past Saint Joseph’s, 4-0

PORTLAND, Maine – Kean University (8-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (3-4), 4-0, in non-conference field hockey action at Deering Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening.

All four of the Cougars' goals came off penalty corners as the visitors scored twice in a matter of three minutes midway through the first half and netted a pair in the second stanza en route to the 4-0 final. Junior Krista LaMaina (Oaklyn, N.J.) scored and added two assists while Shauna LaMaina (Oaklyn, N.J.) notched a goal and an assist in the victory. Junior Raykena Brown (Bridgeton, N.J.) also scored in the shutout triumph.

Saint Joseph's sophomore goalkeeper Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) made six saves in the setback. Kean split time in goal with freshman Bailee Mullen (Roebling, N.J.) earning the win and sophomore Erin Smith (Roseland, N.J.) playing the final 35 minutes. Neither Kean keeper faced a shot.

The Cougars held a 16-0 lead in shots with an 11-0 penalty corner advantage on the evening.

Saint Joseph's hosts Husson University on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
