WATERVILLE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (12-1) scored twice in the first half to defeat Thomas College (7-7), 2-0, in a non-conference field hockey match-up on Wednesday evening.
THE LEAD
Senior Arianna Kahler (Lisbon Falls, Maine) registered a goal and an assist to help the Monks win their fifth-consecutive game and notch their 10th shutout of the season.

Saint Joseph's struck in the 13th minute when sophomore Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine) scored off a penalty corner and a feed from Kahler, who capitalized on a rebound 20 minutes later to double the SJC advantage.
THE KEEPERS
SJC senior Megan Baker (Gorham, Maine) made a pair of saves to pick up the 50th victory, and 27th shutout, of her collegiate career. Thomas sophomore netminder MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) turned away four shots in the losing effort.
TEAM STATS
Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (9-5) and shots on goal (7-2) while Thomas posted a 7-6 edge in penalty corners on the evening.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 21-9 in the history of the series with Thomas College and has now defeated the Terriers in 13 consecutive meetings dating back to the 2007 season. St. Joe's has shut out Thomas in six straight match-ups.
