Golf Places Sixth in Two-Day USM Fall Classic

GORHAM, ME – Saint Joseph's placed sixth with a 633 team card in the two-day USM Fall Classic held at the Gorham Country Club. Jake Brown '13 (Lewiston, Maine) shot a 156 (78-78) and finished in a three-way tie for third place in the annual tournament.

Brown's score is the lowest 36-hole effort by an SJC golfer since Andy LeConte '10 shot a 151 (78-73) in the Husson Invitational held at the Penobscot Valley Country Club on October 5th and 6th, 2008.

Endicott College collected top-team honors with a 585 (294-291) card, just two strokes ahead of runner-up Husson University. University of New England (624), Southern Maine Blue (629), St. Joe's (633), Southern Maine Gold (661), Maine-Machias (687) and Emmanuel College (721) rounded out the group of participating institutions.

Jack Wyman of Endicott captured medalist honors with a 141 (72-69) card, just ahead of a pair of Husson golfers: Matt Loubier (144, 74-70) and Chris Hamel (145, 74-71).

For St. Joe's, Kevin Richardson '14 (Coventry, Conn.) (77-81) and Jeff Hilton '13 (Limington, Maine) (79-79) finished tied for 17th with 158 cards, Ebb Walton '12 (Blue Hill, Maine) placed 26th with a 163 (79-84), and Steve Simonds '15 (Steep Falls, Maine) handed in a 165 (83-82) card to finish 30th overall.

Saint Joseph's will play in the Southern Maine Cup on Friday at the Gorham Country Club. Tee-time is slated for 12:00 PM.
