Saint Joseph's Places Sixth in UNE Invitational

KENNEBUNKPORT, ME – The SJC golf team placed sixth with a 352 team card in the University of New England Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club on Monday. Junior Kevin Richardson shot a 72 (34-38) and finished as the individual runner-up in the annual tourney.

Boosted by having three of the top seven golfers on the roster, University of Southern Maine coasted to the team victory with a 301 collective score. Josh Hogan claimed medalist honors for the Huskies with a three-under-par 66 (33-33) while Sean Bergeron and Caleb Jones finished in a four-way tie for fourth place with 75 cards.

Endicott College, led by third-place finisher Austin Teal (74, 39-35), earned runner-up team honors with a 308 score, while UNE (309), Maine-Farmington (332) and Maine Maritime (342) also competed in the event.

For Saint Joseph's, Ryan Berard (Millville, Mass.) shot an 82 (41-41), Colin Finn (North Easton, Mass.) carded an 89 (46-43) and Nick Zwald (Campton, N.H.) posted a 109 (48-61).

St. Joe's will take to the links this coming Sunday and Monday when the team participates in the Southern Maine Fall Classic at the Gorham Country Club. Opening tee-time for both days is set for 11:00 AM.
