Monks Finish Second in USM Fall Invitational

GORHAM, Maine – Saint Joseph's College finished second with a 314 team card in the Southern Maine Fall Classic at the Gorham Country Club on Sunday. Originally scheduled to be a 36-hole tournament, Monday's second round was cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Junior Cameron Letourneau (Hebron, Maine) finished in a three-way tie for first with a one-under 70 score, but Husson University's Daulton Wickenden claimed Medalist honors after matching cards.

With all five individuals finishing in the top six, Husson cruised to the team title with a 286 score, 28 strokes ahead of the Monks. Southern Maine finished third (318), Wentworth Institute was fourth (319), and Bowdoin College placed fifth (321). University of New England (6th, 324), UMaine-Farmington (7th, 326), Castleton (8th, 330), and Emmanuel (9th, 378) rounded out the list of competing teams in the annual event.

For the Monks, sophomore Brendan Donovan (Auburn, Maine) tied for 18th (79), junior Adam Hachey (Winthrop, Maine) tied for 25th (82), Brandon Labrecque (Gorham, Maine) tied for 30th (83), and junior Adam Batchelder (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) tied for 35th (85).

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Saturday, October 14 for the first day of the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, hosted by Rhode Island College, at the Valley Country Club in Warwick, Rhode Island.
