ALEXANDER NETS 29 TO LEAD ST. JOE'S PAST FRAMINGHAM STATE

Framingham, MA - Framingham State's 11-game home winning streak dating back to last season was snapped tonight as the Rams fell to Saint Joseph's College, 80-69 in non-conference action.

The Rams led the game 8-7 with 15:27 remaining in the first half before St. Joe's went on a 21-6 run over the next nine minutes to open up a 14-point lead with 6:39 left. Junior Marcus Alexander led the way with 19 first half points on 9 of 10 shooting from the floor and 5 rebounds. The Rams battled back behind junior Derek Wigman's 10 first half points and went into the half down by only six.

In the second half, St. Joe's was able to maintain a slim lead until senior Omar Almodovar converted a lay up with 14:04 remaining to put the Rams ahead at 44-43. St. Joe's tied the game and went ahead for good with 13:19 remaining as freshman Elbie Murphy converted two free throws. St. Joe's then went on an 18-8 run over the next seven minutes to open up a nine-point lead at 61-52 which they would not relinquish.

Alexander finished the night with a game high 29 points on 14 of 16 shooting with 7 rebounds, while Murphy finished with21 points and 8 steals. Wigman led the Rams with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Monks next play at Thomas College on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 3 PM.
