Providence, R.I. – Junior Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team to a 73-49 win over Saint Joseph's of Maine in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Wildcat Center on Thursday night.

Junior Quarry Greenaway (Westchester, N.Y.) tallied 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and steals while freshman Jarell Lawson (Providence, R.I.) rounded out the double-digit scorers for JWU with 17 points and two boards in the win for the Wildcats..

Senior Zach Blodgett (Glenburn, Maine) was the lone player for Saint Joseph's of Maine in double figures with 10 points while fellow senior Steve Simonds (Steep Falls, Maine) narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards in the setback for the Monks.

Johnson & Wales controlled the game early and raced out to their first double-digit advantage on a jumper by Greenaway with 13:58 left in the first half.  The Wildcats largest lead of the stanza came with 4:35 remaining on the clock on a three-pointer by freshman Edson Dacy (Fall River, Mass.), making the score 35-10.  The Wildcats took the commanding 37-15 lead into the locker room at halftime, holding Saint Joseph's to just 20% (5-for-25) from the field while connecting on 46.7% from the floor on 14-of-30 shooting.

Saint Joseph's chipped away at the lead and closed the gap to 14 points when a free throw by sophomore John Crawley (Fitchburg, Mass.) made the score 51-37 with 10:00 remaining in the contest.  That would as close as the Monks would get though as the Wildcats pulled away down the stretch en route to the 73-49 victory.  Johnson & Wales out rebounded Saint Joseph's by a 39-31 margin and turned the ball over just seven times in the contest while hitting on 45.6% (26-of-57) of their shots for the evening.
