Chargers Bolt Past Monks, 84-72
BIDDEFORD, Maine – Colby-Sawyer College had all five of its starters in double figures en route to an 84-72 victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine in the championship game of the 2015 Ramada Roundball Invitational hosted by the University of New England.
 
Tournament Most Valuable Player Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) scored 19 points to pace the Colby-Sawyer (2-0) offense. He added eight assists and seven rebounds. All-Tournament selection Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) supported with 18 points (8-14 FGA) and six rebounds. Cam Meservey (Bedford, N.H.) scored 12 points, while Taylor Grande (Bedford, N.H.) and Jake Maynard (Shelburne, Vt.) added 11 apiece.
 
For the Monks (1-1), Craig Luschenat (Boston, Mass.) tallied a game-high 20 points. He was 8-for-10 from the floor, including a 4-for-6 effort from beyond the arc. All-Tournament picks Andrew Ruffen (Salem, N.H.) and John Crawley (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored 16 and 15 points, respectively. 
 
Leading 16-15 midway through the first half, the Chargers went on a 14-1 run over the next six minutes to seize control. Colby-Sawyer would take a 40-31 lead into the break.
 
Colby-Sawyer, which shot 53.3 percent after intermission, led by as many as 19 (72-53) in the second half.
 
St. Joe's shot a solid 50 percent for the game but was hampered by 20 turnovers.
 
Both teams return to action with non-conference home games next week. Colby-Sawyer hosts Regis Tuesday at 7 p.m., and the Monks will entertain rival Husson University Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
