STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Ian Mileikis (Auburn, Maine) has garnered Player of the Week honors.
Mileikis netted 26 points while shooting 73.3% (11-15) from the field in a seesaw victory over UMaine-Farmington on Thursday night. The senior guard added five rebounds and four assists and became the 40th player in team history to score 1,000 career points with his 23rd point in the triumph.
For Mileikis, the MMBCWA weekly award is the second of his career and first since January 22nd, 2018.
Through December 17th, the two-year team captain is averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 62.7% (64-102) from the field and 89.5% (34-38) from the free throw line. He leads the team in both shooting categories and ranks third on the squad in scoring average.
In the MMBCWA weekly poll, Saint Joseph's is ranked second with 24 points behind Colby, which received all six first-place votes and 30 points overall. Husson (18) is third and is followed by Bowdoin (12) and UMaine-Farmington (5) in this week's rankings.
Saint Joseph's will host the Catholic Classic on December 29th and 30th. The Monks play Rivier on the 29th at 1:00 PM and Emmanuel on the 30th at 3:00 PM. Regis will face Emmanuel at 3:00 PM on the 29th and Rivier at 1:00 PM on the 30th.
