STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Casale helped the Monks extend their winning streak to nine games by averaging 25.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in wins over Rivier and Emmanuel over the weekend. In a blowout win over Rivier on Saturday, Casale netted 19 points with nine rebounds and five assists in just 19 minutes. In a come from behind triumph over Emmanuel on Sunday, the sophomore guard scored 31 points with eight rebounds.
Through 12 games, Casale is averaging 23.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 51.1% (95-186) from the field, 50% (49-98) from three-point range, and 73.2% (41-56) from the free throw line. He currently leads the team in scoring, rebounding, assists, field goals made, three-pointers made, assists (47), and blocked shots (11).
Casale, who also earned GNAC Player of the Week mention on December 10th, leads the conference in scoring average, three-pointers made, and points and is second in the GNAC in field goals made and defensive rebounds (93) and third in three-point percentage.
Saint Joseph's (10-2) kicks off conference play on Tuesday, January 8th with a 7:00 PM game at Lasell College.
