STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
In a pair of conference wins last week Casale averaged 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 70% (21-30) from the floor, 47.1% (8-17) from three-point range, and 75% (6-8) from the FT line. In a 99-90 victory over Anna Maria on Saturday, the sophomore guard scored 30 points with 10 rebounds and four assists while posting a 75% (12-16) clip from the field.
Casale is the first SJC men's basketball player to collect four GNAC Player of the Week honors during the same season.
Through 19 games this winter, Casale is averaging 24.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per contest while shooting 53.5% (161-301) from the floor, 48.7% (76-156) from beyond the arc, and 74.2% (69-93) from the free-throw line. He currently leads the conference in scoring average, points, and three-pointers made, second in field goals made and three-point percentage, third in defensive rebounds (150), and fourth in free throws made, total rebounds (172), rebounding average, and assists (75).
He is currently fourth in NCAA DIII Men's Basketball in three-pointers made, fifth in three-pointers per game (4.00), seventh in three-point percentage, ninth in total points (467), and 10th in scoring average.
Casale has posted eight double-doubles this season and scored 30 or more points in four different games.
Saint Joseph's (15-4, 5-1 GNAC) will host Suffolk University on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
