Casale Earns Third MMBCWA Honor of the Season

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the MMBCWA Player of the Week

Casale averaged 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists as the Monks went 1-1 on the week. The junior guard recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 32 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Rivier on Friday after netting 22 points with four rebounds and seven assists in a narrow loss to Emmanuel on Thursday.

In 12 games so far this season Casale is averaging 23.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 50.3% (100-199) from the floor, 33.7% (30-89) from downtown, and 71.8% (51-71) from the FT line. Through games played on January 7th, he ranks 19th in NCAA DIII Men's Basketball in scoring.

With this week's accolade, Casale has now earned 10 MMBCWA top player/rookie awards in his career. The January 6th honor is Casale's third of the 2019-20 season.

Next up for Saint Joseph's (5-7): a non-conference game at Bowdoin College on Monday at 7:00 PM.
