Thomas Shoots Past Saint Joseph's, 90-73

WATERVILLE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (6-8) suffered a 90-73 loss at the hands of Thomas College (9-6) in non-conference men's basketball action on Wednesday evening. Junior guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) registered 30 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists and sophomore guard Nicholas Curtis (Windham, Maine) added 19 points, eight boards, and four assists in the setback.

With neither team shooting well early, the Terriers held a 20-19 edge before Justin Butler ignited a 14-0 run with a jumper and 6:40 showing on the first-half clock. The hosts' offensive surge spanned approximately four minutes and ultimately put the contest out of the Monks' reach, as Thomas headed into intermission with a 41-27 cushion and went on to claim a game-high 20-point advantage midway through the second stanza.

Demetris Webster paced the Terriers with 23 points and was 5-for-5 from three-point land while Jordan Goodson notched 22 points, seven boards, six assists, and three steals and Zach MacKinnon registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Monks, sophomore guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) chipped in with nine points and three rebounds while Tatsuaki Sakai (Ishikawa, Japan) and Zac Manoogian (Westbrook, Maine) contributed five points apiece in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's will host Johnson & Wales University in the Monks' 2020 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
