Casale Earns GNAC & MMBCWA Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College junior guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week.

Casale enjoyed a monster week, averaging 37.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in a pair of conference contests. The junior guard scored a career-high 48 points with 13 rebounds in an overtime road loss at nationally-ranked Albertus Magnus on Saturday after netting 26 points with six boards and seven assists in a 98-83 triumph over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday.

Casale's 48 points is the third-highest mark in SJC men's basketball history and sixth-most scored in an NCAA DIII game this winter. He is the only NCAA men's basketball player – at any level – to have scored at least 45 points in two different contests this season. He shot 48% overall (24-50), including 8-of-21 (38.1%) from three-point range and 18-of-21 (85.7) from the FT line.

Through 17 games this fall, Casale is averaging 26.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 49.3% (151-306) from the floor, 35.7% (50-140) from three-point range, and 76.9% (93-121) from the free throw line. He currently leads the conference in scoring average, free throws made and points (445) and ranks second in field goals made and third in three-pointers made.

Through games played on January 27th, Casale is ranked sixth in the nation in scoring average, eighth in points, 10th in defensive rebounds per game (8.3), and 11th in field goals made (151).

In 69 career games, Casale is averaging 19.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 48.3% (472-978), 39.1% (200-511), and 75.2% (231-307) from the floor, downtown, and FT line, respectively, with totals of 1,375 points and 538 rebounds.

The junior guard has on 11 occasions received weekly awards from both the GNAC and MMBCWA during his career.

Saint Joseph's (7-10, 1-2 GNAC) will play at Rivier University on Wednesday in a conference contest set to start at 5:00 PM.
