Casale Earns MMBCWA & GNAC Weekly Awards

STANDISH, Maine – Weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Jack Casale (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week.

Casale led the Monks to a pair of important conference victories last week while averaging 27.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game and shooting 51.4% (18-35) from the floor and 44.4% (8-18) from three-point distance. In a 90-81 win over Emmanuel on Wednesday, the junior guard netted 33 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists. He capped the week with 22 points and 13 rebounds in an 83-80 triumph over Regis on Saturday.

The GNAC weekly honor is Casale's fourth of the season while the MMBCWA accolade is his fifth of the year. He leads both the conference and the state in weekly awards so far this season.

In 22 games this winter, Casale is averaging 25.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 48.7% (190-390) from the field, 35.7% (65-182) from three-point land, and 77.3% (116-150) from the FT line. He leads the GNAC in scoring average and points (561) and ranks second in field goals made (190), free throws made (116) and defensive rebounds (184) and third in three-pointers made (65). Casale is also fifth in the conference in rebounding average, sixth in total rebounds (201), and eighth in FT%.

As of February 17th, Casale ranks seventh in NCAA DIII Men's Basketball in scoring average, eighth in defensive rebounds per game (8.36), and 15th in total points.

For his career, Casale currently ranks second in program history in scoring average (20.1 PPG), third in three-pointers attempted (553) and rebounding average (7.9 RPG), fourth in three-pointers made (215), eighth in three-point percentage (38.9%), 10th in points (1,491), 11th in field goals attempted (1,062), 12th in field goals made (511) and FT% (75.6%), and 14th in rebounds (583).

Saint Joseph's (10-13, 4-5 GNAC) will play at Suffolk University tonight at 8:00 PM.
