Monks Ranked 19th Nationally, Seventh in New England

STANDISH, Maine – National and regional weekly men's soccer polls have been announced and Saint Joseph's College has moved up to #19 in the latest D3Soccer Poll and jumped to seventh in the United Soccer Coaches weekly New England Regional poll.

The Monks, 16-0-1 overall with a 9-0-1 record in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, move up from 22nd in the national ranking and gain one spot on the regional ladder after defeating Suffolk University, 1-0, in a GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal last week.

Through 17 contests, the Monks have outscored their foes by an impressive 58-0 margin with 1,550 minutes of shutout play in goal. Saint Joseph's currently ranks as the NCAA DIII leader in save percentage (1.000), goals against average (0.00), and shutout percentage (1.000).

The Monks also rank second nationally in shots per game (23.47) and shots on goal per game (12.06), third in won-lost-tied percentage (.971), fifth in assists per game (3.18), sixth in points per game (10.00) and total assists (54), eighth in scoring offense (3.41), and 10th in total goals (58).

With 17-consecutive shutouts, Saint Joseph's has tied Drew University for the longest shutout streak in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer history. The Rangers posted a 17-game blank-sheet streak during the 2003 campaign and finished as the NCAA DIII Runner-up that fall.

As of October 31st, Saint Joseph's is the only NCAA program - men's or women's, levels DI, DII, and DIII - to have not yet allowed a goal.  The Monks are also one of just three NCAA DIII men's programs to have not yet suffered a setback.

In 17 games this fall, Saint Joseph's has established new program single-season records for goals (58), assists (53), points (169), longest winning streak (12), and consecutive shutouts (17). The Monks' 12-game winning streak is the fourth longest current run in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer.

Saint Joseph's, the top seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host #5 Regis (Mass.) in a conference semifinal at 2:30 PM today.
