Saint Joseph's Competes in Maine State Meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Saint Joseph's College competed in the Maine State Meet at Bowdoin College on Friday and Saturday. Both teams placed sixth with the women registering 44 points and the men posting 52 points.

Emilienne English (Cranston, R.I.), Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine), Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine), and Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.) highlighted the event for the Monks when the quartet broke the 200-Free relay record by over two seconds with a 1:47.18 time, good for ninth place overall, on Friday. The record was originally set in the 2012 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving (NEISDA) Championship where Christine Cote, Rose Maccarrone, Jamie Wojtkiewicz, and Mandy Avella posted a 1:49.50 effort.

For the men, freshman Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) placed fourth with a 13:00.56 time in the 1650-Free.

Bates College won both events with the Bobcats' women recording 1105.5 points and the men notching 1225 points.

On the women's side, Bowdoin placed second with 907 points, UMaine was third (692), and Colby College finished fourth (497.5). University of New England (5th, 153), Saint Joseph's (6th, 44), and Maine Maritime (7th, 31) rounded out the field of seven institutions.

On the men's side, Colby was second (968.5 points), Bowdoin placed third (624.5), and UMaine finished fourth (464). Maine Maritime (5th, 67), Saint Joseph's (6th, 52), and University of New England (7th, 20) also competed in the Maine Meet.

Saint Joseph's is off until Friday, January 18th when the Monks host Husson and University of New England in a double-dual meet.
