Monks Finish Fifth at Indoor State Championship

BRUNSWICK, ME – The Saint Joseph's College men's indoor track and field team competed in the Maine State Championship at Bowdoin College on Saturday evening. The Monks placed fifth with six team points.

Four team records fell in the annual event, including a pair of relay marks. Gavin Frisbee (Kittery Point, Maine), Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine), Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) combined to break the 4x400 meter relay with a 3:48.05 time and Matt Boucher (Augusta, Maine), Taidghe Hagan (Reading, Mass.), Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine) and Mark McCarraher (Franklin, Mass.) posted an 8:40.48 effort to break the Monks' 4x800 meter relay mark. Saint Joseph's placed fifth in both events.

Junior Joe DiSalvo (Derry, N.H.) shattered the program's 3000-meter run record with a 9:55.16 effort and sophomore Sam Dunay (Groton, Conn.) topped his previous record in the high jump with a 1.63 performance.

Abdillahi highlighted the list of top performances for the Monks with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:59.59), while Brooks was 10th in the 200-meter dash (24.27) and Dufour posted a 10th-place effort in the 600-meter run (1:33.23).

Saint Joseph's returns to action next weekend with an appearance in the Boston University Valentine Classic.
