STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Hendricks broke the Monks' 1500-Meter run record by six seconds with a 4:16.30 time in the Maine State Championship at Bowdoin College on Saturday. The weekly honor is the third of Hendricks' career, as he was twice selected as the GNAC Cross Country Rookie of the Week last fall.
Including the 1500-Meter mark, the first-year standout has broken three team records this spring. Hendricks broke the team's 3000-Meter steeplechase record with a 10:23.96 time at Fitchburg State on April 6th and bested the Monks' 5000-Meter run record with a 16:19.45 performance at the Thomas College Invitational on April 14th.
Saint Joseph's will compete in the GNAC Championship at Regis College this Sunday.
