Vinci Named GNAC Co-Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Simon Vinci (Peabody, Mass.) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Week.

Vinci shattered his SJC program shotput record, which he had just set the week prior, with a 14.50-meter toss to win the event at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. His performance currently ranks as the top distance in the New England Region and is 20th nationally through two weeks of competition.

Vinci shares his first collegiate weekly accolade with Suffolk University freshman Connor Baston (Bristol, Conn.), who ran conference-best times in the 60-Meter dash (7.32) and 200-Meter dash (23.40) at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games on Saturday.

The Monks are off until January 10th when the teams compete in the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H.
