Elliott Chosen as GNAC Softball Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College freshman Meghan Elliott (Blackstone, Mass.) has bee selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvais Softball Rookie of the Week for the reporting period ending April 10th.

Elliott hit .450 (9-20) with nine runs, four doubles, four stolen bases, and four RBI in a 5-1 week for Saint Joseph's. The freshman shortstop notched at least one hit in all six games and was 4-8 with three runs, four doubles, and an RBI in a sweep over Mount Ida College on Tuesday.

Through 20 games this spring, Elliott is hitting .345 (19-55) with 17 runs, five doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, and five stolen bases. She is currently slugging .473 with a .429 OBP and has been excellent defensively with just four errors in 70 chances for a .943 fielding percentage.

As of April 11th, Elliott leads the Monks in runs and steals and ranks second on the team in hits, walks (8), and OBP, and third in RBI and doubles. The GNAC weekly honor is the first of her collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (10-10, 5-3 GNAC) will play a pair of conference contests at Simmons College tomorrow. The first game begins at 3:30 PM.
