McNamara Named MWBCA Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – Various weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has been honored by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA), New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA), and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

McNamara is the MWBCA Player of the Week for the second-consecutive reporting period and has also garnered honor roll mention from the conference and NEWBA.

The fourth-year standout claims the trio of accolades after leading Saint Joseph's past Southern Maine, 71-51, with a career-high 37 points on the road on Sunday evening. The senior guard shot 66.7% (12-18 FG) from the field and 63.6% (7-11) from three-point distance en route to notching the second-highest point total in the 42-year history of the SJC women's basketball program. She added three assists and only turned it over twice in the win as the Monks improved to 4-0.

Through four contests, McNamara is averaging 26.5 points, 4.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game and is shooting 52.3% (34-65) from the floor, 48.5% (16-33) from three-point distance, and 75.9% (22-29) from the free-throw line.

For her career, McNamara has been selected as the MWBCA Player of the Week on 10 occasions, been listed on the NEWBA honor roll seven times, and the GNAC honor roll 13 times.

Saint Joseph's, ranked 12th and 17th nationally in this week's D3hoops.com and WBCA polls, respectively, will play at University of New England on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.
