STANDISH, Maine – Weekly accolades for the reporting period ending February 3rd have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior guard Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) has been selected as the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Co-Player of the Week.
Marks was a sharpshooter for the Monks last week, shooting 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the floor, 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from three-point range, and 100 percent (5-of-5) from the free throw line while averaging 21.5 points per game in a pair of conference victories. The senior guard was nearly perfect from the floor (10-for-11) and downtown (4-for-5) with 24 points versus Rivier on Thursday, before adding 19 points with four rebounds against Johnson & Wales on Saturday.
Marks, who shares the weekly award with Bowdoin College junior guard Maddie Hasson (South Portland, Maine), also garnered New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor roll awards for her play last week.
Through January 4th, Marks is averaging 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 40.0% (68-170) from the floor, 40.4% (44-109) from three-point distance, and 74.5% (35-47) from the FT line. She currently leads the conference in three-point percentage and ranks fifth in the GNAC in three-pointers made (44).
Marks is the third St. Joe's player to earn weekly accolades this season along with fellow seniors Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) and Emily Benway (Rochester, N.H.).
Saint Joseph's (21-0, 9-0 GNAC) will host Emmanuel College tonight at 6:00 PM.
